On August 31st, a
solidarity rally was held
in "Rabin Square" in Tel Aviv.
The rally's aim was
to make a public call for
the immediate release of the
kidnapped soldiers, under the
slogan, "Soldiers are not
abandoned
on the battle field".
More than 100,000 people
participated in the rally which
was organized by the friends of
the kidnapped soldiers.
Osnat Wishinsky, whose son Lior
was killed
in the Gaza Strip,
introduced the performers;
Rami Kleinstein
(who composed a song
especially for the rally),
"Shotey Hanevua", David Deor,
Ninette Tayeb, Yardena
Arazi and Korin Alal.
Among the speakers were family
members and friends of the
kidnapped soldiers, Rabbi Israel
Lau, Uzi Dayan
(the chairman of the committee
for the release of the soldiers)
and a close friend of Ron Arad.
